Dr M.E. Piché is a preventive cardiologist, assistant professor of Medicine at the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute-Laval University, with an expertise on cardiometabolic disease, women’s heart health and Indigenous health. She completed a post-doctoral training at University of Oxford (Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism) on cardiometabolic diseases. She serves on the Scientific Advisory Committee of two national guidelines of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (Dyslipidemia and Heart Failure). Dr Piché is the scientific director of the Center on Inclusive Health and Prevention at the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute. She is involved in many local, national and international clinical trials (PURE, CAHHM, CAHHM-First Nations, BRAVE, MEX studies) on preventive cardiology, cardiometabolic disease, ethnicity, women’ health and imaging. Her clinical and research interests focus on the interplay between cardiometabolic diseases and cardiac dysfunction leading to heart failure among underrepresented population including Indigenous.
