Michael Betel is the President and Founder of the Fatty Liver Alliance, a not-for-profit charity based out of Toronto, Canada. He has been a leader in the area of liver disease, in both commercial and not-for-profit organizations for 30 years, a sales and marketing leader at Schering-Plough, a Business Unit Director focused on Hepatitis at Hoffmann-La Roche, and a Director of Donor Relations with Canadian Blood Services. He was a Director on the Canadian Liver Foundation Board of Directors for almost 9 years and on both the National Marketing and Communications Committee and on the Strategy Committee. Michael was a participant at the AASLD Nomenclature Consensus Conference in 2022. He currently serves on the board of the International Society of Liver Ultrasound (iSLUS). Michael currently serves at the Chairperson of the Liver Action Network with the Global Liver Institute. He is the creator of the NAFLD/NASH Primary Care Summit.
