Robert “Al” Beardsley has over 30 years experience in research, drug development and commercialization, and has served as Cirius’ President & CEO since 2024.  For the past 15 years his scientific and clinical research interests have been focused on the central role of mitochondrial metabolic dysfunction in human disease across cancer, inflammation and metabolic disease.  Prior to Cirius, Al served as Executive Chair and COO of Galera Therapeutics [GRTX] 2010 to 2024, and he was CEO at MSDC from 2009 until 2010, at Kereos from 2003 until 2009 and at Metaphore Pharmaceuticals in 2002. Al serves or served on several other boards including Arbutus Biopharma [ABUS], Metallomix, Euclises, Epigenetx, KemPharm [KPHM], CollaGenex Pharmaceuticals [CGPI] and Bioseek. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering and B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iowa and M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago.
