David Soergel, M.D., is currently chief medical officer of Madrigal where he leads the Rezdiffra development program and execution on the pipeline in MASH. He is a physician-scientist with extensive experience leading global clinical development across cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases. In his most recent role as Global Head of Cardio Renal Metabolism at Novartis, he led therapy-area strategy, development teams, and pipeline progression from proof of concept through registration, and participated in major licensing transactions and acquisitions. Previously, he served as chief medical officer at Trevena, where he built clinical development and medical affairs capabilities, advanced novel compounds into the clinic. Earlier industry roles included Concert Pharmaceuticals and GlaxoSmithKline. Dr. Soergel trained in pediatric cardiology at Johns Hopkins and pediatric heart failure and transplantation at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He earned his M.D. from Cornell University Medical College and his B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
